Roulette is a game that originated from France which includes a layout of numbers, chips and a wheel. The game is popular in casinos around the world since late seventeenth century. The name is itself is French for a little wheel.Below is information on how to play roulette.

The European version of the wheel has 37 numbers (0-36). The American version has 38 numbers (00, 0-36) The American wheels have a house edge of 5.26 due to the increase of an extra number. The house edge is the number of chances that the casino will pay over the probability that you will win the game. It is also the built in profit for each bet.

The table has three rows of twelve numbers with 00 and 0 on top. The table is divided into sections of first section of twelve numbers, second section of twelve numbers, and third section of twelve numbers. It also has subsections of 1-18, 19-36, even and odd numbers, black and red numbers. A small white all is sent spinning by a croupier to land on one of the numbers on the wheel. The players place bets on the table which correlates to the slots that the ball can possibly land.

Players place bets by anticipating which numbers or pockets that the spinning ball will stop at. They have an option of placing inside or outside bets. Inside bets are made to specific numbers on the table while outside bets are made on boxes surrounding the numbers. Inside bets have higher odds for payouts. They include, Split betting is placed any two numbers and has a ratio of 17:1 payout. If a player places a bet on a single number, it is called a straight up betting and has a payout at a ratio of 35:1

A player can bet on three numbers at a go which is referred to a street betting. It has a pay probability of 11:1. One can also bet on three numbers using a single chip by placing it at the end of the three numbers (also called the street). One can also bet on four numbers which is called corner betting. It has a payout ratio of 8:1. There is also a six line betting that involves betting on six numbers. The payout is at a ratio of 5:1. One may also place a chip at the point where four numbers intersects

The player may also place the chip at the intersection of two streets. In American roulette, one can bet on five numbers, 3, 1, 00, 0, and 2 with a payout ratio 6:1. One may also bet on 00 row that cover 00 and 0 and gain at a ratio of 17:1

Outside bets are made in boxes surrounding the numbers. They include; Red Black Odd and Even which are money bets. You place the chips right on the layout. You can also try Dozens bet, made of 12 consecutive numbers. You place your chip on boxes 1-12, 12-24, and 25-36. The payout is 2:1. If even numbers or 00 come up, you lose the game. Finally, there are Column bets that consist of numbers in any of three vertical columns. The bet is made at the bottom of the layout. It has a payout ratio of 2:1

There is a placard to be carried that has a description of minimum and maximum bets on the table. There are also highlights on earlier landings. It is good to keep an eye as the dealer spins the ball to make better decisions. Unique chips may be bought from the dealer at a value which is cashed when you are done with the game.
