Have You Been Unknowingly Undermining Your Diet?

By Walter Clifton

We all know that the most effective foods for our diet plans are lean meats, whole grains and healthy fats. These will be the ingredients that will give us the energy and protein we need. They keep people nutritionally well balanced with minimal calories while we work hard to reduce our fat at the gym. Are you aware, however, that a few of the foods you've been thinking are fine for your diet plan could actually be making you retain weight? They could be even adding fat laden calories to your body! Here are some of the foods that may be undermining your diet work.

Sports Drinks aren't helping you whatsoever. You have possibly been told that your sports drink is the fastest way to replenish your body's electrolyte levels after a workout. Most doctors will let you know, though, that if your workout doesn't go over ninety minutes then you should be fine just by drinking water. Sports drinks are full of sugar and calories and a large amount of other things you don't need including artificial flavors and colors which defeat any attempts at eating only natural products. Instead, look at sipping some chocolate milk. The sugar in chocolate will help your muscles begin to fix themselves and the calcium in the milk will strengthen your bones.

Skip that protein shakes. Lots of people believe that ingesting a protein shake is a good way to curb cravings between meals. The truth is that if you are already eating a balanced diet all the protein shake does is clog your system with protein. Converse to common belief, protein isn't really stored as muscular fiber, it is really stored as fat. This shows that should you have taken in a lot of protein during the day your body stores what it doesn't need in your fat, which won't help you lose weight or inches at all.

Pre-packaged deli meat is not nearly as good for you as you might believe it is. You probably are convinced a sandwich that is produced from pre-packaged lean deli meat and whole grain bread is a pretty good lunch. The real truth is that pre-packaged deli meat has a massive amount preservatives and definately will provide you with about a third of your recommended sodium consumption for the day. This might be especially tricky if you are prone to heart disease. Rather than buying pre-packaged deli meat, choose some home cooked poultry or the deli meats that is newly sliced at your deli counter. Sure they are the more expensive options but they are rather a lot healthier for you.

There are a massive amount things that we imagine will help us lose weight like eating a whole wheat bagel each morning but the truth is that eating a bowl of oatmeal sprinkled with cinnamon is a lot better for our health and waist lines. Ask a medical professional which ingredients are right for you and then eat those. If you are careful about what you ingest and treat your body well, losing weight should not be that big of an issue for you!
